What led you to do what you do?

After completing my family, I  made a decision to change the career path that I had been in as a Medical Secretary and wanted to do something completely different. I initially registered to do a full Beauty Specialist course in 2000 and progressed from this into Holistic Therapies. I commenced in a Hotel Spa in 2001 as a part time Holistic Therapist, and thoroughly enjoyed how the client was always very relaxed afterwards which I have found always to be very rewarding. Now self-employed, I am able to offer my treatments mobile and enjoy the one-to one service in the comfort of the client’s home.  My passion from all the therapies that I practice is Reiki, as this therapy treats the person as a whole, mind, body and spirit on all levels.  I recently verified by the Reiki Association as a verified practitioner and also received verification from the CNHNC (Complimentary Therapy & Natural Healthcare Council).

What’s the best thing about doing the work you do?

I enjoy how the client confides in you as a Therapist, how they quickly relax. I find this role extremely rewarding and love to help others feel better about themselves.

Tell us more…

I qualified in Reiki Therapy in 2004 as a level 3 practitioner,  although this therapy has been in existence for many centuries it was a therapy that the general public knew very little about up until recent years.  I continued with my Reiki journey and qualified as a Karuna Reiki Master in 2007 and have continued to practice for 16 years.  Reiki energy naturally is felt in my hands whilst also practising other Holistic Therapies and this is  very beneficial for the client.

Reiki aids relaxation. and assists in the body’s natural healing processes, and develops emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.  Clients who may feel uneasy undressing for other therapies may prefer this treatment as it is non-invasive, meaning the client does not need to undress.

Some benefits of Reiki:

  • Relaxes the body and mind
  • Helps unlock supressed feelings
  • Relaxes the body and mind
  • Soothes emotional distress
  • Relieves fatigue
  • Increases energy
  • Promotes sleep and balances energy
  • Clears toxins

I am now CHNC registered and recently completed a course in Complimentary Therapy in Cancer Patients – Professional Practice.
